And the winner is…

First, let me apologize for the delay in choosing a winner. We had 12+ inches of snow fall, coupled with school cancellations. We are on Day Three right now. I do love my kids, but I also love a routine.

Without further ado, the winner is…

What Would You Do?

Posted: January 23, 2011 by Cop's Wife in bubba/boo, cop's wife

An alert Twitterer let me know that ABC’s What Would You Do? was doing a story regarding gender stereotypes. Here’s a link to an article and preview. The preview doesn’t show the part I found most interesting. Not sure if the whole segment is available online yet or not. The show aired Friday night. They mentioned this blog and showed Boo’s picture.
Anyway, the show had an actor wearing a princess dress go shopping in a toy store with his actor dad that was totally cool with it. They then had an actor play the disapproving stranger. The vast majority of people let that guy have it. Makes me happy that strangers are willing to go to back for children.
What would you have done?

Good things happen in threes

So my final post (at least for now) on the generosity of strangers is an homage to Terrance Griep.

Mr. Griep contacted me after the notorious post via email. His words were very touching. I never stop getting teary reading the emails. I am shocked and amazed and stunned that my little story affected so many people in so many ways. I am humbled each and every time I read a kind note or comment. And that people took the time to contact me. I love it. I truly do.

So anyway, Terrance sent me an email about enjoying my post.

He then springs it on me that he writes the Scooby Doo comic books, which I’m sure you can imagine Boo adores. He offered to send us an autographed copy, which he then turned into SEVEN autographed copies.7!!! He wanted to make sure that Peanut and Squirt didn’t get left out. (Have you heard anything so sweet?) Not only did he take the time to email me, but also to autograph his work, and send it to us. He also went out of his way to follow up and make sure we received them.

I gave one to each of my shorties for Christmas. Boo was wide-eyed. He could not believe that he had an autographed comic. I’m saving one to have framed. And I gave two to Boo’s little friends that play Scooby Doo with him on the playground. If you remember, one of them is a little girl that dresses as Daphne with him for Halloween.

And that adds up to 6. So what am I doing with the 7th? Giving it away. With the permission of Mr. Griep, of course. I will randomly select a comment from this post on February 1st. I will take all comments up to midnight CST on January 31, 2011. I am very excited about this. It is my first giveaway. And such an awesome one! I may never be able to top it.

Thank you, Terrance Griep! I hope all is well, and that you know how happy you made my little family.

In case you missed it, here is my interview with NPR-affiliate KCUR. I am interviewed in the first half. The second half is fellow blogger Squidilicious.

Also, today happens to be the Official Delurker Day (who knew such a thing existed?) so please leave a comment and let me know you’ve been here. Thanks!
