Sharing the love - The Give Back Backpack

Posted: November 21, 2011 in contests/giveways

This is Thanksgiving week here in the good ol’ US of A. There a great many things for which I am grateful. You, my dear readers, are near the top of that list. And also reaching over 1000 on FB. That’s nuts. And super awesome.

To show my appreciation, I’m giving away one purple Schoolbags for Kids backpack. If you remember, this is the bag that all three of my shorties carry. And purple is the same color that Squirt carries. Schoolbags for Kids has been gracious enough to give me one to giveaway.

This company is a-mazing. For every bag purchased, they donate a backpack full of school supplies to a child in need somewhere in the world. One Here. One There.

Education is the number one way to improve the world, improve individual’s lives, get out of poverty, you name it. Or at least I think so.

And keep them in mind for the upcoming holidays. It could be a win-win, you get a gift to give someone in your life, while sending a gift to a child in someone else’s life. Maybe get one and fill it with favorite books. Or art supplies. Or if you’re splurging, a laptop. Or obviously, as a gift all by itself.

We LOVE ours. The colors are great, the space is efficient, the quality is high.

Available colors

To enter, leave a comment letting my know what you are thankful for this year. Doesn’t have to be anything big or life changing. It can be as simple as being grateful for your cup of coffee in the morning. Little things matter as much as big. Please only one entry per person. Entries accepted until 11:59pm CST on 11/24/2011. Sorry, but this is only available to US residents.

I am thankful for the people who when my daughter came out as bi, just looked at her and said “Okay” and went on loving her like they always have. No one can ask more for their child than to be surrounded by people who love you for you.

  2. kimmero says:

Ever so thankful for my family and friends as always but this year I’m especially thankful that I’ve been able to reconnect with my 12 year old niece and spend lots of time with her!! I’m happy to have been able to show her that at my part of the family has time for her and wants to spend time with her and watch her grow and make sure she knows she is loved. Love you Kaylee!!

  11. Kyle Greene says:

I am thankful for my partner and his son (my stepson), who are both open minded, well spoken individuals. I applaud my stepson’s comfort and pride in his father (who is gay), despite his shared custody with his strict, Mormon mother.

  12. Jeanine says:

This year I am thankful to have finally met the man who I want to spend the rest of my life with. He is an amazing friend and partner and has been a better “dad” to my daughter than her own biological father. I AK so glad he has come into our lives.

  13. Erin says:

This may sound really out there, but I’ve been thinking about it for a while now. What I am most thankful for is my ‘young’ family. I am so grateful that my seven year old daughter is blessed with relationships, not only with her grandparents, but great-grandparents, and even one great-great grandmother. That is something many people don’t get, and I cherish it.

I am thankful for my newborn daughter and my husband and older daughter…I feel so blessed.

  17. Lynn D in Dallas says:

I am thankful for my family and friends who are supporting my desire to go back to school even though I am sometimes stressed and not as patient with them.

  18. I am thankful for the challenges that life has put in front of me, giving me the opportunity to show myself I’m stronger than I ever thought possible, teaching my children to act courageously in the face of adversity, and to just do what’s right in your heart no matter what. As a somewhat young (thirty-something) member of “The Sandwich Generation” I’m thankful to have found a husband who was unwaveringly supportive to move my 77 and 84 year old parents in with us and our now 5 and 7 year old sons. My position between them affords me the opportunity everyday to see life through their vulnerable eyes, and reminds me how important it is to do right by others and look out for those who maybe can’t look out for themselves. I’m thankful that I have them to teach me that valuable lesson, and that they have me to buffer them from some of the ugliness that exists in this world, even if it’s temporary.

  19. Mandi Buckalew says:

I’m thankful to be a teacher. Really.

  21. Rene C says:

I am so thankful that my family is healthy.

  22. I’m thankful for our little “Rappianne”. It took a long time and some medical help to get her, but she’s growing nicely in utero now. I’m thankful for my wonderful husband, who has been fantastic throughout the process of getting pregnant, and being pregnant. And I’m thankful for Skype, which allows us to talk to my parents at least once a week, even though we live 6,000 miles appart

  23. Monique Cruz says:
