Back to school with Schoolbags for Kids

I may or may not be counting down the days until school starts (17) and getting the lists gathered for the mass purchase of school supplies for 3. Fortunately, I was already able to score one of these from Schoolbags for Kids:

Available colors

I am loving the durability, the attention to detail, and the completely efficient use of all the space. I received the blue one to test drive. My shorties were immediately fighting over it. Yes, it is a schoolbag for kids, but I’m using it as my laptop case. It holds it horizontally which I prefer, plus it is padded and cushioned, has lots of little inside pockets, and side pouches for phones, juice boxes, whatever.

The absolute best part is the ‘One Here. One There.’ aspect. With every purchase of one super awesome bag they send a bright yellow (for safety), extremely durable schoolbag full of school supplies to a child in need. And they are sending them all over the world. It is amazing. So you get a great bag, and you get the pleasure of helping another child receive the tools they so desperately need to get an education. And if I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a million times: Education is the key.

As not to leave my shorties out, I did order one for each of them. Peanut chose the turquoise, Boo chose the green, and Squirt chose the purple. I’m sure that last one will result in a future blog post. ;)

See how happy they are with their new bags?

And I’m not the only one super excited by this. So is DailyCandy and HuffPo - they even chose it as one of their top 10 cool picks for 2011.

Please go check out the site, read more about how they started, and consider ordering one. Or three ;). If you choose to do so, please tell them nerdyapple sent you.

Megan, take a look at their website. They have several color options, meaning your boy can have blue instead of pink. My son likes the turquoise. These are reasonable considering you get two bags and one has pencils, paper and supplies for a child in need. Awesome! Nerdy Apple, just curious as to how old your children are? My son’s 7 and these look like they’ll fit him snuggly.

I’m using the blue one for my laptop while I travel. It is roomy enough that plus my various notebooks and stuff. My daughter is 11 and the boys are 4 and 6. The straps adjust to get a good fit. They all seem to be working out just great.

      • This is such a cool idea! I stumbled upon you as I was jealously perusing the #BlogHer tweets…following you now and I see you are in KC? Me too!

My twins are starting kindergarten on the 17th, and we already have backpacks…but they are small b/c I’m not anticipating homework (per se) this year. But these look fantastic for when they get older and I love that for every one purchased, they donate one! I’m following them now, too!

        ;-)
Thanks for sharing, and enjoy BlogHer!

Brilliant design! I wish they’d had these when I was a kid.

But knowing kids… you say the kids all thought they were cool, just like we do? My Bear (just turning 5, about to start K) wouldn’t wear a particular T-SHIRT today because he anticipated being teased, so adding to the opportunity for teasing would be my only hesitation. Am I being paranoid? Tell me if I am. I can take it!

Not that it will stop me. I’ll use it if he doesn’t, and I’ll do just about anything that holds the promise of extended education opportunities to kids around the world!!

My youngest wanted a pillow pet because his brother wanted one. So they asked grandpa for them for Christmas. What pet did he choose? The pink and purple unicorn. Even his cousins raised their eyebrows, but thankfully his joy caused him to miss the eyebrow raise and my SIL said something about him being so excited to receive just the gift he wanted and the cousins hushed up. Yes, she is a blessing. But I just remember that this is the same boy who frequently is seen as Anakin from the Clone Wars and wants to be a cowboy and a monster truck driver when he grows up. He saw the unicorn as wonderful and I love that my family honors his choices. Good for you for allowing him to choose and be proud of his back pack.

Too funny. My kids all wanted pillow pets as well. Peanut chose the unicorn, Boo chose the duck, and Squirt chose the frog. Then Peanut wanted to trade and Boo was happy to. He too loves the unicorn.

OMG! I’m so getting one (or three) of these. I might just buy one for myself.
