I actually kept my daughter from doing this by telling her that you had to have a license to cut hair or else you could be arrested. I pointed out the cosmetology licenses hanging on the wall at the shop where I got my hair cut, and explained that moms have special permission to cut their child’s bangs, but nothing else.
So - I’m a bad mom, but my kid had a good haircut!
I have to admit my oldest got the scissors a couple of times. Both times I didn’t lecture about the hair he Cut. Just the Safety of the scissors..LOL. My sisters (both teachers…) to this day say that was Neglect of him. I think he wanted to look a different way then I had him look. I believe in letting him look as he wants ( With in reason-I mean he Cant hurt himself !!.) he is 17 now, Currently Sporting his Summer Mo-hawk, and Working his way though his Summer Job-With good Grades and a fairly balanced idea on where he wants to go to College. Who could ask for more…
My niece did something similar. She cut her bangs. They were only about an inch long on one side afterwards. To “fix” it my sister cut all her bangs down to an inch.
Bwa ha ha ha ! My four year old has cut his hair a couple of times now. Partly because I totally let the bangs go and they were bugging him. I think it is hilarious, and I fell in love the more with him every time I saw the crazy side of his head. Of course I sternly lectured him and I left it to grow out. But the next time, I think I’m going to leave the lecture behind and let him enjoy his creativity. Because little boys are So. Full. of the Awesome.
My girls did that a couple of times. I didn’t appreciate being lectured by the hair dressers I took them to for repairs, but he worst was when my older daughter, then 3 yrs old, cut her eyelashes!
At least it’s summer…a buzz cut will solve it all and be grown out by fall! My daughter did that to her bangs, right before Christmas pictures one year. Nothing a beret set at a jaunty angle couldn’t hide!
Kids will be kids… at least he didn’t cut his brother’s hair. I like the mohawk idea for the summer. He might enjoy being a fun kid, but is that a bad thing?? Methinks not… Have a Groovy Summer!!

In hindsight, I never should have let my 4 year old watch Tangled.
He grabbed for the scissors a few weeks ago and made a beeline for his sister.
“What do you think you’re doing?”
“I’m going to cut baby sister’s hair.”
“Uh.. no. That’s for Miss Barbara to do.” I quickly grabbed the scissors away.
Several times I have caught him pretending to cut his hair.
I fear it is only a matter of time…
Love the photos.
I love the whole layering thing he has going on there!
He actually doesn’t look too bad. I think he actually saved you money at the barber shop…

Looks kinda hipster to me, but maybe that’s just the glasses.

time for a summer cut!
My little sister cut her eyelashes when she was 5. Everyone commented on how long they were and she thought that was a bad thing.

Let him have a mohawk for the summer!!!
