Feeling generous

Posted: March 7, 2011 by Cop's Wife in contests/giveways

I was really feeling some serious kindness from the interwebz last week so I thought I’d pay it forward. I picked a random Facebook follower and a random Twitter follower to each receive a $25 gift card from Kiva.

The Facebook winner is Alexis Cheney Borrevik, and the Twitter winner is @fishie08. Both of you please email me at nerdyapplebottom at gmail dot com to claim your prizes.

For those unfamiliar with Kiva and microlending, I strongly encourage you to check them out. You can take your money back once the loan has been repaid or continue to relend. My kids love to pick out the recipients. It is so great.

I have no affiliation with Kiva other than being a long time lender. These prizes were purchased with my own money.

Oh, and on a totally random note, the winner of the Scooby Doo comic book happens to live in the same smallish Orange County suburb city that I lived in in high school. Such a small world.

Also, I greatly enjoy doing these little giveaways so keep an eye out for more in the near future. My birthday is coming up so that would be a perfect time for me to give out some more gifts.

  1. Weirdly enough, I just lent my first $25 on Kiva this week. It’s a great charity. I love how you know exactly where your money is going.

You are a Goddess, indeed. Pay it forward is such a beautiful sentiment. I love KIVA - have seen them in concert several times over the many years I have camped at Free Spirit Gathering in June.

What a lovely idea and gesture! I had some weirdness in the blogosphere today, so to see what GOOD can come out of blogging really lifts the spirit.

What a nice idea! Kiva is a GREAT organization… it’s so satisfying to know that one is actually helping a real person. Not that other aid organizations aren’t good, too. I just like the idea of knowing exactly how someone is being helped… and I love that Kiva encourages the pay it forward idea with its borrowers.
