Pics I Love

Posted: January 17, 2010 by Cop's Wife in besties, pics i love

Though this is NOT the most flattering pic of either of us, this is basically what Goldilocks and I look like when we are together. She makes me laugh. And thinks I’m funny which is a bonus. I love spending time with her. I wish we lived closer. Hell, I wish all my friends lived closer. I wish we got together more often. I wish she hadn’t talked me into a 5k. I wish we still worked cube to cube. Ok, not in cubes, but maybe just sat next to each other on a regular basis.

Between the two of us we have 5 kids, 4 of which are under 5. It’s not easy to get together without them and even more difficult to try to plan something with all of them.

Our husbands love each other too, which is another bonus. But we haven’t all 4 gone out in a LONG time. We should do that.

Anyway, I love Goldilocks. And I love that she is my friend. And I love her laugh and her sense of humor and her dedication and her graciousness. I love her kids and their names and that she quit her job to take one closer to home/family that allows her to be with them more even if it pays less. I love that she can laugh at me and at herself and at boots on the side of the road. I love that she hates odd numbers and sits outside her kids’ door at night until they fall asleep. I love that she loves cheesy metal and TSO and ZZ Top. I love that she loves Garozzos and the Pioneer Woman and Rainy Day Books, and Da Vinci, and Origins. And a million other things.

We have decided to schedule a phone call once a week. It’s Wednesdays from 8-9pm. (though she did push me off an hour on our very first call.) We may have to adjust our times. I call them ‘Tuesdays with Morrie.”

As I sit here outside my kids’ rooms until they’re asleep, I am getting sad thinking about how far away we are and that we never get to do anything.

…and I’m breathing a sigh of relief because I’m super thankful you didn’t de-friend me just because I missed our Tuesdays with Morrie already! BTW, I think pushing it back to 9 will be great for me - can you do that? Also, we have parents as teachers wednesday…can we do Thursday this week? ha ha. But, really, I’m serious!

…and don’t worry about the 5k - don’t push yourself - 4 weeks was a pretty quick timeline. Keep training, we’ll do the Jan. 31 run and not feel any pressure to run the WHOLE THING, then we can work toward not walking on the next one?!

…and…just kidding, nothing more to comment…I’m ready to read more posts - bah bye!
