Took a break

After a two week break (GASP!) from my training, I have started back today. I was having a little issue with my knee, plus we have had horrible weather here. Today is actually the first day it has been above freezing since Christmas Eve. And most of those days were below zero. Peanut had 4 snow days off of school. The roads were terrible for a long time. So I took a very extended break from running.

But today, I picked back up where I left off, so I did Week 4 Day 2, which is a 5 minute warm up walk, run 4 minutes, walk 1, repeat the 4/1 4 more times, ending with a 5 minute cool down walk. I did 2.26 miles in 34 minutes. It sucked a little, but I did it without too much trouble. I’ve already prepped Peanut that I may be doing some walking during the 5k and it could possibly take days for me to complete. Hopefully I can get the distance up, and possibly not quite as much walking in time for the Groundhog Run on 1/31. And if you are looking to get rid of some of your hard-earned money, I’d love to have it for Children’s TLC. Click here for more information.

I started off to do the Couch to 5k. I thought it was a paid program too, but it isn’t. But if you scroll to the bottom of the http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml
it lists out the entire program. Not sure what all you get if you pay the $19.95.
I ended up doing the 5k101 program as it was easier to remember while running. I wanted to listen to music of my choice while running so I just listen to the first part of the podcast for the week I’m on and remember what the plan is, then listen to my own music and keep track of the minutes with the treadmill.
I believe both have iPod apps and/or podcasts.
